Pediatric Dentistry in Simsbury, CT

A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable. Children are not born with a natural fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Simsbury Pediatric & Adolescent Dentistry makes a special effort to use pleasant, non-frightening words when speaking with children. In the treatment rooms, we do a lot of “show-tell-do” to explain things and treatment in simple ways for children to understand and not be afraid. We want you and your child to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at our office.

Our greatest goal is to put our young patients’ minds at ease about their dental visits. We love to hear that patients aren’t anxious or afraid to visit our office!

Why choose a pediatric dentist?

Pediatric dentists have two to three years of additional training in treating children and are more familiar with childhood diseases, growth disturbances, and behavioral issues, and can manage them better than a general dentist.

After receiving her general dental degree, Dr. Maryam Azadpur completed a year of general practice residency at the Waterbury Hospital, two years of pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, and one year of pediatric dentistry fellowship at the Yale-New Haven Children Hospital.

When to Visit the Dentist

Dr. Azadpur and our team recommend that children visit our Simsbury pediatric dental office around their first birthday in order to receive proper dental care and benefit from proper oral hygiene habits right from the beginning.

Healthy At-Home Habits

Caring for your little one’s teeth is very important, even at a young age. Start cleaning your child’s teeth after the first tooth erupts. Start with a damp cloth and move to using a toothbrush as more teeth come in. Baby teeth are much weaker and demineralize much faster than permanent teeth. We recommend cleaning and brushing your child’s teeth after each meal.
