  • Keep it Simple: Tell your child that their dentist and the team will explain everything and answer all their questions.
  • Choose Positive Words: We suggest avoiding words that can cause unnecessary fear, such as “ shot” , “needle”, “pull”, drill” or “hurt”needl,""hurt."
  • * The "Kid-Friendly" Way: Our office uses special, non-frightening language to convey the same messages in a way that feels safe and fun for kids.

Parental Presence & Building Rapport

  • The First Visit: We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination to help them feel secure.
  • Building Confidence: For future appointments, we suggest allowing your child to accompany our team on their own. This helps us establish a closer rapport and build your child's confidence.
  • Your Choice: While we find children often do best one-on-one with our team, you are always welcome to accompany your child to the treatment room if you prefer.
  • A Note on Safety: To ensure the privacy and safety of all patients, children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.

Establishing a "Dental Home"

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the ADA, and the AAPD all recommend that a child establish a "Dental Home" by one year of age. Early visits are the best way to ensure your child receives the preventative care they need. We know your family has a busy schedule, so we appreciate you allowing enough time for a thorough, relaxed visit.

  • Complete Digitally: Please fill out the required new patient forms online prior to your arrival. This allows our doctors to review your child’s medical and dental history in advance and to maximize your time here in the office.
