A Love for Children and a Dedication to Lifelong Healthy Smiles

I have practiced dentistry for 30 years and have had the pleasure of performing pediatric dentistry for 28 of those years.

I love having the time to get to know each child, to build trust and comfort in the dental environment, and to guide kids as they mature into great adult dental patients!

I love seeing my little patients’ happy faces when they come into my practice and enjoy their bright smiles and pride at the end of the visit, too.

My team and I work hard to help anxious and nervous kids work through worries and become confident and excited to take care of their smile. We educate children and parents about oral health, nutrition, and making good decisions, so they develop a lifetime of healthy dental habits!

My philosophy, which is shared by my team, is to provide great dental care, delivered with compassion, in a warm and friendly setting.

Education

I grew up in Iran and moved to the United States to pursue my education. I attended Bucknell University, where I received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. My Doctorate of Dental Medicine was awarded by the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I completed a one-year general practice residency at Waterbury Hospital.

Knowing that working with children was my calling, I pursued a two-year pediatric dental residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center. This was followed by a one-year fellowship in pediatric dentistry at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations

Dental school, and my pediatric dentistry residency and fellowship, were challenging and wonderful. The education and training ensured I was grounded in the best practices for addressing the unique needs of a growing child, including children with specialized and complex medical, physical, mental, and emotional needs.

Since dentistry and the pediatric dental specialty are constantly changing, through regular continuing education I stay informed of new research, the latest materials and technologies, and emerging trends in children’s oral healthcare.

Currently, I serve on the medical staff at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford and volunteer with Connecticut Mission of Mercy. I am a board-certified pediatric dentist: a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. I am also a member of the:

Through these organizations, I have access to a range of opportunities to expand my skills and knowledge. Participating in seminars, lectures, and meetings, as well as reading the latest journals, keeps me abreast of the newest information. By carefully evaluating new developments, I am able to incorporate the best into the practice and our patients’ care.

Outside the Office

My husband and I have lived in Simsbury for almost two decades and have raised our family in this wonderful community. We have two adult children.

If I’m not in the office, I am most often found at home, spending time with family and friends. I enjoy reading, exercise and fitness, and cooking.

My greatest joy is found in nature: I love plants, flowers, and herbs, and find a lot of fulfillment in growing and caring for them.

Mitra Marvasti-Sitterly, DMD

Dr. Marvasti-Sitterly

Dr. Mitra Marvasti-Sitterly completed her pediatric dental residency at the University of Connecticut in June 2025 and enjoys working closely with children and their families to create positive dental experiences.

From early in her dental training, Dr. Marvasti was drawn to pediatric dentistry because of the opportunity to build long-term relationships with families and help children develop confidence in the dental setting. She values creating an environment where children feel comfortable, respected, and supported during their visits.

Her clinical interests include early prevention, minimally invasive pediatric dentistry, and airway health. She is particularly interested in the role pediatric dentists play in recognizing airway concerns and sleep-disordered breathing in growing children, and she believes early awareness can have a meaningful impact on a child’s overall health and development.

Dr. Marvasti approaches patient care with patience, kindness, and a focus on helping children build healthy habits that will support them throughout their lives.

Education

Dr. Marvasti was born in Connecticut and spent part of her education in Massachusetts, but she has always felt at home in the Nutmeg State.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute before completing both her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
